Hey! You Can't Wear That!

Michael Jeffries' view on who should wear Abercrombie and Fitch's clothing is completely wrong. Ellen Degeneres said on her show "beauty doesn't come between the sizes of 0 and 8". And she is completely right. Jeffries is telling teenagers that beauty is only for thin people, the plus sized women and girls aren't beautiful at all. This is making teens more self-conscience then how they already are. He says "We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don't belong (in our clothes), and they can't belong".

It is completely unfair to target a particular group of teenagers. The "plus-sized" ones (if you can even call them that, in my opinion a size 10 isn't plus sized at all) are already made fun of at school, and are self-conscience because they are as dangerously thin as other girls their age. They don't need another source telling them they aren't beautiful (even though they are) and excluded. When Michael Jeffries said that over-weight teens don't belong in their brand, he probably made many people feel worthless.

This contributes to the already biased perception of what beauty is because it makes people second guess how they are perceived and perception isn't reality. In this article (Stop telling teens they aren't beautiful; make clothes for teens of all sizes!), Benjamin O'Keefe said that he felt worthless whenever he looked through magazines that only had smaller sizes then him. And that teens need to realize they are not worthless. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, that should be the message toward the public.

On a Tweet and a Prayer...

Twitter accounts do help attract youth towards the Church. This is because teenagers is the internet and social networking sites all the time, they use them to connect with other people for many purposes. So, instead of telling teenagers what to do in Church and school, small interesting posts on twitter will help teens pay attention to them, and maybe get them involved in Church. But this will only work if the Pope is tweeting something that is interesting toward the youth and relatable.

There are actually many advantages to having our Church Leader tweet. Pope Francis will become the "Peoples Pope". This means that the parishioners will be able to relate to him and trust him better. When he tweets, it makes him more "human" to others, more relatable,, and he's not a mystery anymore to anyone.

There is only one disadvantage that I am able to think of of Pope Francis tweeting. This is that everyone thinks that he's perfect, with no flaws; he is the Pope after all. But when he tweets, people will soon realize that he's not perfect at all.

Social Media – The Good, The Bad and the 'Not-So-Private'

I am a member of a few social networking sites; these are Facebook and G-mail. This is so i can stay in contact with family members, friends, and people I don't see a lot anymore (especially friends from elementary school). Also, I am able to see how they are doing, I am able to wish them a happy birthday, and I'm able to chat with them when they are not anywhere near me (like they moved, or went on vacation).

I have checked my privacy settings, I check them once every few months because sometimes Facebook can mess up and change them (like allow everyone to be able to post on my timeline and see what I post on my news feed). I only allow certain people to be able to see the information I post. These people are only my friends. I don't allow their friends to see what I post or anyone I don't know and don't have on my contact list.

The kind of information that I allow others to have access to is honestly not much. I don't really go on these sites often, and when I do, it's only to talk to people. The only thing I'm giving access to my friends are my photos I post, and the photos are completely appropriate.

The type of unsafe things to post are things like inappropriate pictures of yourself, and giving out too much information to where you live or other personal information that's only meant for you and your friends. People should check their privacy settings more often. The things that are safe to post are things that are not giving out too much personal information.

We can become much more responsible users of social networking sires if we don't give out too much information about where you live and go by yourself, and to make sure to change and fix your privacy settings and passwords. Also, we should be careful for the pictures we post of ourselves (some people post half naked photos). These steps are important because there are many stalkers on social networking sites that can actually find you and take advantage of you if you post too much information. Also, what you post may affect you being able to get a future job. This is because everyone looks on these type of sites to see what type of person you are, and if they should hire you.

Twitter Trouble

Khadijah's comment about her teacher "Lives at home with his mom, eats fish sticks for dinner, and all he talks about it Star Wars" was not appropriate. It wasn't necessarily rude or mean, but no one should be allowed to talk about their teachers online publicly, especially something this personal about them, even if it's not true. But I do think it was too much to suspend her for two days, her tweet wasn't mean or making fun of her teacher in any way; she was just stating a fact. So, I think she should have just got a warning and had to write an apology letter since this is the first time she did this.

I was not reasonable for the school board to suspend the three students from Brampton, it was too big of a punishment. All they did was comment about their teacher one time, not twice or three times. I think there punishment should have just been to write an apology letter, and apologize to their teacher and promise not to do it again.

Student should be able to express their opinions and feelings, but not something like "He lives at home with his mom, eats fish sticks for dinner, and all he talks about it Star Wars". I think that went too far because shes commenting on her teacher's personal life to the whole internet and everyone on it.

Paparazzi : Scandalous?

I personally disagree with the way celebrities are treated by the paparazzi. The celebrities have every right to be able to have some alone time without a few stalkers following them, watching every move they make. They deserve some alone time. Many people love to be alone, it's their time to think, to have some peace and quiet, to be able to think through things they've done/going to do, and they need to be able to releasing some energy and stress. Celebrities can't and don't have the time to release this stress, and if they flip out, the whole world knows.

Paparazzi goes too far when they bring the celebrities children and personal life to the media. Because it then affects the entire family, the children at school are treated differently, and they can't have alone time with them. Everyone deserves some secrecy in their life, because it's their business, no one should have every little thing about themselves on the internet, good or bad.

The paparazzi uses the media networks to their advantage to post personal news about famous individuals because people on the internet want to know more and more about the artists/celebrities personal lives, so they request more from the paparazzi. Also, the paparazzi gets paid for every photo/information they get and have, and many people become desperate to get money. The only way to get all of the information oout quick enough is to use media networks.

A paparazzi scandal that has occurred recently was the Justin Bieber one. It seems like no one can give this guy a break; he's followed everywhere, all of his millions of fans want to know everything about him. On his 19th birthday, he went out to have his first legal drinking party, and it got out of hand; he was so drunk. He should have been more responsible with these type of things, but it's his problem, he should have gotten a little privacy and left alone.

If someone invaded my privacy, I would be very upset. I wouldn't feel safe anywhere I go. If everyone gets privacy, then so should the celebrities.

iPhone Crazy..... or not?

I am not the type of person who needs the top of the line electronics. This is because as soon as you get the newest IPhone, laptop, or any other electronic, a few months later there’ll be a new one out, so the products will always get better and better, and we can’t keep up with all of the new products. Also, it’s a waste of money.

Apple’s bank of material that will be realised over time from Steve Jobs is pretty smart; we can still have amazing products from Steve Jobs even after he died; which allows him to be remembered by many people. But it’s not a very good thing either because after Apple runs out of products that Steve Jobs created, the IPhones will all of the sudden start being crappy, because he didn’t make them, and the technology in the future will be so advanced, the IPhones won’t be very up-to-date.

The IPhone may not change as much as people think it will. This is because The IPhone is known for its slick black appearance. And also, Steve Jobs created the layout of it before he passed away, and since the Technology is going to get better, the IPhone will still be what it looks like today, so it won’t have much advances. I personally would like to see better storage, clearer camera and video, longer lasting battery, and wireless charging.
